PPR proteins naturally enable precise RNA editing in plant organelles by recognizing RNA one nucleotide at a time, but are difficult to engineer due to their repetitive sequences.
The research team introduces GRASP, a modular assembly method that allows researchers to build custom PPR proteins despite these technical challenges.
This enables programmable, single-nucleotide RNA editing, opening the door to tailored RNA manipulation in plants and potentially other systems.

Join us for an engaging webinar where we explore advances in protein engineering. Discover how scientists from the University of Western Australia are using synthetic genes to transform naturally occurring plant proteins into programmable tools for precision editing.
