Key Benefits

Exceptional performance

Twist double-stranded probes achieve uniform, high on-target coverage even in GC-rich and complex regions.

Straightforward customization

Easily design a panel around your unique genes, pathways, or variants through our online tools or with an expert.

Higher resolution

Capture rare variants, copy number variations (CNVs), or low-frequency events that arrays often miss.

Smarter spend

Reduce sequencing waste and cost by avoiding low-performing panels or overspending on whole genome approaches.

Twist Solutions

Uneven coverage and GC bias leading to missed variants or dropouts

Precision probe synthesis ensures balanced coverage across GC-rich and complex regions, leading to fewer dropouts

Probe redundancy and off-target capture wasting reads and budget

Exon-aware, junction-spanning design captures isoforms, fusions, and hard-to-reach exons

Complex splicing and isoform diversity missed by rigid, pre-designed panels

Uniform, reproducible data reduces revalidation cycles and speeds time to confident results

METHYLATION

Capture methylation data with a custom DNA methylation panel. Twist’s novel design approach achieves high uniformity and retains the methylation pattern by printing four different probe species for each target: fully methylated, fully unmethylated, sense, and antisense probes.

Hereditary Disease Research

By combining Twist’s Enzymatic Fragmentation library prep and full-length adapters with Element Biosciences’ Avidite Base Chemistry, this PCR-free, hybrid-capture approach eliminates amplification bias and preserves native repeat structure, even across GC-rich or unstable regions. The result: high-fidelity detection of both normal and expanded alleles — including difficult loci such as DMPK (22/84 repeats) — while saving up to five hours of hands-on time compared with traditional workflows.

What Scientists Have to Say

Twist sales may make absurd claims about how good Twist Custom Panels are, but we have found no reason to dispute those claims. We didn’t believe it until we ran their panel ourselves. Our last run had an average uniformity of 99.5%, meaning that you can drop your average coverage right down. We’ve basically doubled the number of samples we can fit on a run.

Other companies were cutting costs and focusing more on fitting everything into one box rather than working with customers to devise custom probes that fit their highly specific research needs. Twist bucked the trend.”

Twist’s Custom Panels allowed us to focus on important, medically relevant genes instead of forcing us to work with a whole genome. The panel was concise, with a simple protocol and cost was reasonable with very good candidate variants already curated by the literature.”
